Autumn 2012, an institution is reborn...

Created in 1925, Rech has become a must as a seafood restaurant. Grown to become an institution over the years, Rech gained a new impulsion in 2007 with Alain Ducasse. Today, Rech welcomes you in a brand new decor to enjoy the cuisine of Anthony Denon. Bright colors and wooden details are here to reveal the soul of the place.

The story
In the 1920’s, a lot of Alsatians came to Paris to open seafood restaurants. Places like the Brasserie Wepler, Maison de l’Alsace, Lorraine, Baumann and Rech illustrated this phenomenon. At this time, only white wines from Alsace as Sylvaner or Riesling were considered to match perfectly with seafood, and restaurants use to propose their local family Alsatians wines.

Rech was created in 1925, when Adrien Rech arrived from Alsace to Paris. He opened firstly a grocery store that soon became a restaurant where to enjoy oysters from all around France. The bench of shellfish and oysters was settled down outside and the reputation of the restaurant started to grow all around Paris : an institution was born.

A place filled with freshness and radiance, in a seaside atmosphere.
Rech’s decor changes while its original identity stays. Far from the seaside clichés, the architect Marie Deroudilhe wanted to maintain the atmosphere and the soul of the place, while giving it some freshness and modern accents. The lighting is brighter, volumes are refined, colors are paler, and the materials are back to their natural appearance.

Admire the fiber reed plates signed by Shinichiro Ogata and the decorations inside the room that are hand painted by the artist Jean-Pierre Guilleron.
